Oil Pressure Sensor Voltage Low

The oil pressure sensor measures the oil pressure in the engine. If there's not enough oil pressure, or if the sensor is faulty, it might send a low voltage signal (like 0.1 volts instead of the expected 1 to 4 volts).

The engine control module (ECM) expects the oil pressure sensor to output a voltage between 1 and 4 volts under normal operating conditions. If it receives less than 1 volt, it triggers this code.

Don't just throw parts at it. Walk through these in order — each step tells you whether to keep going or stop and fix what you found.

1. 11. Check the engine oil level; ensure it's at the proper level. Decision: If low, add oil and retest.
2. 22. Inspect the wiring and connectors at the oil pressure sensor for corrosion or damage. Decision: If damaged, repair/replace wiring and retest.
3. 33. Use a multimeter to check the voltage output of the oil pressure sensor. Key check: Engine running at operating temp, you should see 1-4 volts. Decision: If below 1 volt, proceed to next step.
4. 44. Replace the oil pressure sensor if the voltage is low after checking oil level and wiring. Decision: Re-test to confirm the fault is cleared.
